European Commission initiated investigation against Samsung related to patent war with Apple. Bruxelles will investigate the alleged misuse of Samung's dominant position in the market and violation of intellectual property law.
Samsung's patents related to 3G technology are dominant in definition of UMTS standard, used by manufacturers of mobile technology. Their patents are considered as "Major" in definition of UMTS standard.
Bruxelles is considering that Samsung's charges against patent violation by Apple represent the misuse of dominant position in that segment of mobile technology.

It is interesting to recall that Apple recently launched lawsuit against Samsung related to alleged intellectual property violation as well.
It seems that the lawsuit war between Samsung and Apple continue. On the other hand we have very contradictory and trivial information: despite market clashes between Samsung and Apple, they still co-operate on the other front. Samsung is continuously selling A5 main processor. as well as system memory and flash memory components for iPhone.
Also, it is interesting to notice the stand of European Commission against monopolistic behavior. Recent investigation against Google confirms the Bruxelles' attitude toward market deviations.
