Posted: Feb 2012
According to current trends, $ 62 Billions will be spent on on-line advertising in US. This will be more than double, compared to value of advertising in newspapers and magazines.
Recent years showed that advertisers are spending more and more on on-line advertising. According the eMarketer, if this trend continues, more money will be spent in on line advertising, than on printed media.
The value of on-line advertising increased by 23% in 2011. It is expected that 2012 growth will be 23,3%. This means that on line advertising value will be $ 39,5 billion.
At same time eMarketer expect that value of printed advertising will decrease from $ 36 billion in 2011 to $33,8 billion in 2012.
If this trend continue, 2016 spending on on-line advertising will increase to $62 billion, while the printed media advertising will be $ 32,3 billion. The TV advertising is also showing the increasing trend. The 2011 value was $60,7 billion, while in 2016 is expected to be up to $ 72 billion.
This shows that difference between internet and TV advertising is reducing over time. In 2012 the difference was $28 billions, while 2016 will show difference reduced to $10 billion.
This data refers to the information and expectation in the US market. It is expect that similar trends will show in other markets too. It is obvious that more money will be spent on internet advertising over time.
