Confront Prejudging Behaviour

Because of our pre-judgements, we often see others and interpret their behaviours through the framework from which we see the world.

Therefore, you might try applying the following steps to minimise pre-judging and maximise your ability to value differences in others with which you work.

1. Begin by confronting your own prejudices and assumptions. Write them down and develop strategies for removing and eliminating them.

2. Listen closely to feedback from others regarding how they believe you effectively deal with and embrace differences. Again, develop strategies for overcoming weaknesses.

3. Continually challenge your pre-judgements. Constantly work to be self-aware of your covert or overt messages that may constitute prejudice.

4. Seek out a role model within the organisation who is seen as the expert in valuing and embracing diversity and differences. Shadow them and develop a log by which you will apply your learning to your own daily interactions.

Managing Performance is the basic skill that is part of the Ability to measure group of basic skills. Managing performance is ability to manage the processes and assess the actual performance versus requirement.

Managing performance is crucial for the business, since the activities without adequate output are counterproductive for the company.

Recruit And Promote Differences

To help you successfully and efficiently recruit and promote differences within your group, try some of the following techniques and ideas:

1. Develop specific strategies to increase applicants who represent a diverse mix of people and who match the general dynamics of your target audience/product group.
2. Hire employees with non-traditional backgrounds and skills that may not be directly related to the job you are attempting to fill. The same would hold true when promoting individuals from within the organisation.
3. Use referrals from employees within the Company who you feel you are impressed with and understand the value of leveraging differences.
